Business Excellence and ABS Biomedicals Partner to Build Insulin Fill-Finish Facility in Saudi Arabia

Business Excellence, in partnership with ABS Biomedicals Inc. (USA), is in the final stages of funding negotiations to establish a state-of-the-art insulin fill-finish facility — the first of its kind in the MEA region.

The project aims to produce up to 50 million vials per year (in 5-year time), significantly reducing Saudi Arabia’s reliance on imported insulin, which currently covers over 80% of national demand. Powered by ABS Biomedicals’ biosimilar glargine insulin IP and innovative pen delivery systems, the facility will deliver long-acting insulin that remains stable at 45 °C — a breakthrough in patient care for those living with diabetes.

While still in the early construction stage, Business Excellence is leveraging its leadership experience in launching FDA-approved facilities in the United States to secure necessary licenses and regulatory approvals. This pioneering initiative will not only strengthen Saudi Arabia’s medical infrastructure but also open doors for advanced biotechnologies that align with Vision 2030’s ambition for global healthcare leadership.
